Lansdale is a borough in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania and is the center of North Penn Valley. It was incorporated in 1872 and named after Phillip Lansdale Fox, chief surveyor of the North Penn Railroad (which became part of the Reading Railroad). As of 2010, the population of Lansdale was 16,269.
Today, the town is served by SEPTA Regional Rail’s Lansdale/Doylestown Line and freight rail service out of Lansdale is provided by the Pennsylvania Northeastern Railroad. The Abington–Lansdale Hospital, which serves Lansdale and surrounding areas in the North Penn Valley, employs over 700 people. Lansdale proudly boasts a local radio station and a newspaper, the Reporter.
